Description A young disabled boy is taught archery at the 78th birthday celebration of the President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, fondly known as Madiba. More than 2,000 children who are living with disability in disadvantaged communities across the county were invited to attend the day-long birthday extravaganza on the 17th July 1996 on the grounds of Hilton College near Pietermaritzburg in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. The children, their carers, Madiba and other guests are being entertained playing games, enjoying party fare, and attending a circus performance in a big top (a first-time experience for Madiba who has, to date, never been to a circus!). The event has the backing of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund.
