Description The President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, fondly known as Madiba, dances with guests as he celebrates his 78th birthday. More than 2,000 children who are living with disability in disadvantaged communities across the county have been invited to the day-long birthday extravaganza being held on the 17th July 1996 on the grounds of Hilton College near Pietermaritzburg in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. The children and their carers have been treated to a number of festive activities. The event has the backing of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund.
