Description A youth living with disability is taught how to hold a tennis racquet correctly at one of the activities organised to entertain the children invited to the 78th birthday celebration of the President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela. More than 2,000 children who are living with disability in disadvantaged communities across the county have been invited to the day-long birthday extravaganza being held on the 17th July 1996 on the grounds of Hilton College near Pietermaritzburg in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. The children, their carers, Madiba and other guests have been entertained and enjoyed party fare, and have attended a circus performance in a big top (a first-time experience for Madiba who has, to date, never been to a circus!). The event has the backing of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund.
