Description Oscar Mpetha (5 August 1909 - 15 November 1994) was a highly respected political activist during the apartheid years. He was in and out of prison echoing the ANC demands of the release of all political prisoners and the return of exiles. He was the organiser and later General Secretary of the African Food and Canning Workers Union and served as president of the Cape branch of the ANC.
